Thomas Howell
Thomas Howell was the eldest son of Thomas Howell, the curate at Llangammarch from 1576 to 1601. Thomas was born in Cefn Bryn in 1588.
Thomas had a distinguished life within the church, having been a fellow of Jesus College, Oxford and serving as a chaplain to King Charles 1st. During his life he was Rector of Hornsby, Surrey, and St Stephens Walbroke, London. Later becoming Canon of Windsor, Bishop of Chichester and Bishop of Bristol.
He suffered from being violently ejected when Bristol was overtaken by Cromwell, and he died that year.
He is buried in Bristol Cathedral.
